Waldorf Iridium - Sample Oscillators and Sustained Notes (Loop Mode)
Переглядів 1,6 тис.3 роки тому
In this small tutorial i show you how you can sustain your sampled sounds/instruments by using the "Loop Mode" to select a region that you want to be sustained while you hold down the note. With that you can treat it as a normal Osciallator and increase the playability, use the envelope generator completely and more. Enjoy! :) #iridium #synthesizer #sampling

Very understated, yet driving piece. I didn't need to add much. MS20 for some noise perc action (with a reverse delay), Pro1 droning with a tempo-synced lfo (from neutron) and Neutron again on Subbass duty (sine/triangle). The DFAM is havily modulate with S&H and a LFO to control FM, Noise and Cutoff. The DFAM is then sent through a series of delays and a quantizer. Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/c...

I've got the DB-01 today and here are my initial impressions and going over the functions. Really happy with it. I probably gonna pair it with my DFAM and my Sampler to make a minimal, yet colorful, jam setup. Sometime it sounds like the sound is doubled. That is my microphone that picked up my open headphones. Gonna use closed headphones next video. Always learn something new with this UA-cam ...

You are an excellent teacher, the best I have watched. This is because you play each thing you move or show. Thank you.
Thank you, this sequencer + the screen are an amazing tool in the Iridium.
What oscilloscope are you using. Thanks.
Hello there! Nice video. Question! Do you know how to configure the rk02 for an octatrack? Hugs
I need it to be able to sequence my lxr02. Thanks!
do the slices all have the same gain attributes, or can i put on different slices different gain values?
Wow awesome
this is perfection
Thank you for the demo.
Thank you
Major revelations at 3am today thanks to this VIDEO. I got it thanks and won`t be selling my toy
Hello! It's been a while since you uploaded this, but have you ever compared it to a tb3?
No, I have not. But i bought one later and sold this one. From all clones I find the Roland TB3 has the best balance between emulation and quality-of-life updates like the step display, effects and battery power, but the emulated acid sound is not 100% there, if you value that more. If you want a good emulation i'd look at TD3 (classic bright acid squelch) or TT303 (crazy good sequencer). I owned them all and settled on the TD3-MO from Behringer, which is a modded 303 basically.
@@cellrok Sorry, I didn't receive your message notification. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I actually have a td-3 from behringer and was thinking to get this one instead since it's more compact and I feel it sounds a bit better, but on the other hand, td-3 has a distortion fx plus the og sequencer.
Try the enhanced MO version from Behringer. The ability to make the slides and envelopes more gooey, adds some nice acid flavora to the otherwise stale TD3 clone. I also found they kinda improved the buttons a bit, to be less clicky-clacky. The sub-OSC also adds some nice body and the filter doesn't loose as much bass when cutting the frequencies. If however you want a more interesting and generative sequencer I would look into the TT BassBot. The sequencer is top notch and fun, but then again lacks depth in the 303 sound. I think the MO makes the best sound and standalone while it can also greatly benefit from combining it with a modular or distortion padel and/or clever external sequencer etc..
There's a simpler way without wasting both your Attenuators: Osc Mix -> Att 2 Att 2 -> VCF IN VCF1 -> VCA IN VCA as signal output This way att1 is still available for other things, Overdrive and Delay are bypassed. Att2 stops OSc Mix maxing out the VCF which seems to create distortion.
Thanks. I was scratching my head with this one . 😁
Exellent video , no editor to do that nowdays ?
this was very helpful for me atm :) thanks mate! Also cool track :)
First thing I’m going to do is sample my sub37 and create a budget moog poly synth 😃
Great idea, make a vid please and post
@@no_guarantees oh i ended up going with a prophet 12 over the iridium (& happy with the choice!), but i could try something similar on the asr10 .
You know what’s more annoying than not been able to scroll quicker? The fact that there’s a perfect amount of space for a shift button Under the screen knobs! Hopefully they find a solution with the next update.
Here to remind myself this has much better bang for your buck than an old monomachine that is tempting me on eBay!
3:24 is gnarly af
Great tutorial. I am glad that i am understanding the instrument better with videos like these. Thank you !!
My name is Giovani Gorgio but everybody calls me Giorgio
I have a question that might seem dumb, the neutron is mount in a eurorack Im using the Behringer CMA1 for CV/gate, the CV is plugged to VCA CV input and the gate is plugged to OSC 1+2 input. The pitch changes but the it note plays continuously as soon as i stop playing ? Why is the gate not controlling the note duration like my other modules ? If plug the output OSC 1+2 to the mixer i get a continuous tone, its like the envelope is being bypassed ?
se tieni premuto part e premi una freccia cambia all'istante senza dover premere yes
Wow. Great video. Thank you for all the details. Learned a lot
Do you know if there is any plan to implement a warp mode like they have in ableton to the iridium sampler?
“Resonator” is a poor title since it is actually doing modal synthesis. When I think of a resonator proper I think of combs. While a BPF in modal synthesis depends on resonance… I still think the unintended confusion with a normal resonator is misleading.
You mention not having a notch at 10:05 but you can easily make a notch with the main parallel filters. Choose a highpass for one and a lowpass for the other. Then set the highpass frequency above the lowpass (or the lowpass frequency below the highpass). You’ll need to choose whatever link mode let’s you keep the proper spacing between the cutoff positions. But yeah, notch. Not sure if it will let you but if you send the same signal to both filters and have bypass on one but a bandpass on the other… then you might be able to do a polarity flip on the bandpass which will create a band-reject filter. That is very similar to a notch.
Thank you for this!! Never understood the mangling potential with the AED!!
bro i learned the octatrack mk2 in a weekend. it’s super easy
Thank you for this vid. SOOOO MUCH!
I feel like this is how the OT was intended. Resample 1 shots and midi instruments into loops. Sequence the loops with patterns and parts. Using 1 shot samples with parts didnt make sense to me but this doe, really well done
whats your camera?
Logitech C920
My Neutron just arrived this afternoon because my DFAM did look quite lonely, and though I have a pretty clear idea of using and patching (semi) modular setups I can already tell this video will be IMMENSELY helpful. Awesome stuff!
that was mind blowing
good idea!👍
I like this patch and your neutron videos! I will lock further into them! One question, as I usually see you using the output in the front panel im curious for example if you could use the back audio output with this patch you did here (avoiding mainly overdrive and delay in teh same time! Thanks P.D. MAGNIFIQUE! may I ask if you can have multiple outputs in this patch? as for example normal patch to use for a clen neutron + another one for using the overdrive with any external audio in + an extra delay for anothe external audio in ???? Thanks for all your tutorials
This is too loud.
Is that a pioneer toraiz sp16 I see on the right?!
Can it do real time live record as well?
legendary video. you are an amazing teacher.
Useful generalization video on Elektron instruments workflow possibilities. Thanks.
wow so far!!!!! excellent thks for this masterclass )))))
great episode thks!!!!
really helpfull thks!!!!!
How comes you are just changing patterns but the sample is changing as if you are changing parts?
inside a pattern you can define which part should be used. Think of "parts" as "kits". A set of sounds. You can tell the pattern which set (part) it uses and the rest is just sequenced notes playing them.
Such a boring, lifeless menu diving demo with lots and lots and lots of babbling on. Jeez.. show us what it sounds like! What it can do! Damn..
Thank´s ;)
What are you doing man. 🤔🥱
Thank you for this demonstration 🙏🏽
I've had mine for about a year at this point, have wrapped my mind around nearly everything else at this point but have still not gotten comfortable with parts!!!!!! Wow this is something I've really been wanting to do be able to do to quickly be able to spice things up with the same pattern (even with modulation) gets boring very quickly. Hot swapping sample kits >>>>>>
